While almost always absent in literature on sexual assault, undocumented immigrant women and girls are particularlyvulnerable to gender-based violence. Numbers are difficult to estimate, but a combination of complex challenges like immigration status, language and cultural barriers, lack of information and financial resources, social isolation, and fear of the police keeps many undocumented women from reporting their abuse and seeking help.
